Student Voice & Volunteering
Your opinions don’t just matter – they shape the way we work.
91´«Ã½ is committed to listening to students through a range of regular feedback channels. We call this our Learner Voice – and it’s one of the most powerful tools we have for improving the College experience.

Learner VoiceÌý
The aim of the Learner Voice is to ensure that students are at the heart of activity at the college and that the student requirements and views drive the continuous improvement of all provision at the college.
We gather feedback through:
- Learning walks
- Learner surveys
- Focus groups and forums
- Tutorial discussions
When you speak, we listen – and more importantly, we act. Staff at all levels of the College take feedback seriously, and wherever possible, we ‘close the loop’ by showing you what’s changed as a result.
Whether it’s changes to the canteen menu, tweaks to a course timetable, or improvements to support services – these things often start with you.
‘You said, we did’ isn’t just a phrase – it’s a promise.
You don’t have to be in a formal group to have your voice heard. Every learner has the right to share their views and help make College better for all.
Student Representatives
91´«Ã½ values the views of all learners enrolled onto programmes and is committed to improving the learner experience. Effective communication is key in this process. For this reason, we expect that every programme has at least one Student Representative.
During Term 1, Student Representatives are elected by their peer group and are expected to both pass comments and suggestions from that group about their course to the staff in that area and equally, to relay information back to the group from the staff and managers of the course.
Student Representatives will undertake training during the first term and then will be invited to attend meetings with the College Leadership Team throughout the academic year.
For more information, call into the Student Experience Zone.
Volunteering
Be seen. Be heard. Make a difference.
If you want to have a real impact at 91´«Ã½, join our Student Volunteer Group. This is your chance to work with staff and fellow students to improve College life for everyone – whether it’s shaping your learning experience, influencing enrichment opportunities, or helping make the College an even safer, more welcoming place to be.
The On the Scene group brings together learners from across the College who want to:
- Represent their peers and raise important issues
- Work with staff to review what’s going well – and what needs to change
- Suggest new ideas to improve teaching, facilities, support and more
- Support campaigns and events that raise awareness of learner priorities
You’ll build confidence, develop leadership and communication skills, and get involved in projects that make a real difference.
‘Being in the group has helped me speak up more and actually see changes happening. It feels like we’re taken seriously.’
