What You'll Learn
In order to gain your Diploma you will study the following academic modules:
- Sociology
- Criminology
- Psychology
Within these modules will be a variety of units, ranging from Criminal Justice and Social Policy, Sociological Theory, to The Nature-Nurture Debate. In addition, you will study a selection of developmental skills units that underpin the research, essay writing, study and critical skills required for this course, and that will support your future academic studies at university.

How Will I Be Assessed?
You will be assessed in a variety of ways including essays, reports, presentations, posters, timed assignments and workbooks. Although there is no formal examination, you are expected to work on assignments in your own time as part of directed study.
Entry Requirements
You will need English GCSE at a grade C/4 or above for all courses and Maths GCSE for some courses. You are advised to investigate potential university progression routes to establish specific entry requirements they may require.

Future Opportunities
Many of our learners progress to undergraduate degrees at local and national universities in social science subjects, for example single honours degrees in psychology, sociology or criminology, or dual awards in humanities subjects.

Anything Else I Need to Know?
Please be aware that this course is highly demanding, both academically and in terms of demands on your time. You will have 4 taught sessions over two evenings a week, eight hours of contact time in college. In addition, you will be expected to participate in independent study to prepare for future lessons and assignments, and it is advisable that you also have in place suitable vocationally specific workplace experience for some professional courses as this will enhance your university application.
